Ask a woman what she does for fun and she’s liable to tell you about her kids, her partner, her family, her work, her service to others. When you ask her what she does for herself – she’ll say “oh, but I do do that for me!” But when was the last time she, herself, had that heart-pumping excitement and expectation of a kid the night before her birthday party or a trip to Disneyland? You are more likely to get tears than an actual answer.
Through the years, the grief, physical challenges, and sheer work changed her from the little girl who knew how to play into the responsible woman who has forgotten her own heart’s delight.
Horses don’t believe anything we tell them, they simply respond to what is inside of us. This is why they are so valuable as therapists. They are used to help physically challenged children, inner city kids, and mentally challenged people of all ages. So, why not adult women?
